LOGAN Myleigh Adkins drove in two runs with a two-out fifth single to give Class AA No. 6 Logan a 4-3 win over county rival and Class A No. 6 Man Tuesday afternoon at Bea Orr Field.

Adkins single broke a 2-2 tie as Logan scored a pair of two out runs in the third and fifth innings to erase an early two-run deficit.

Taylor Noe started the rally with a one-out single and moved to second on Lacy Curry's sacrifice bunt. Harlee Quick was intentionally walked and a passed ball put two in scoring position for Adkins.

Adkins, who was 0 for 2 with two strikeouts in her previous plate appearances, lined a 1-1 pitch into center field to bring home Curry and Quick, who scored just ahead of center fielder Trista Marcum's throw and catcher Zoey Jackson's tag to give Logan its first lead of the day at 4-2.

Man got one of the two runs back in the top of the sixth when Peyton Lusk hit a solo home run over the right center field fence.

Lusk's home run chased Logan starting pitcher Shae Conley from the game. Conley picked up the win in the circle for Logan after allowing three runs on six hits with two walks and seven strikeouts in five innings.

Adkins took over in the circle for Conley and issued a walk to Melody Rozzell. Rozzell stole second and moved to third on a passed ball. Following a strikeout of Marcum, Adkins got Jackson to hit a grounder that Adkins was able to snare and cut down Rozzell trying to score from third base.

In the seventh inning, Man got a leadoff single from Kinlee Cline, but Adkins got Morgan Cooper to ground into a fielder's choice erasing Cline at second base for the first out.

Adkins struck out Jacklynn Barnett and got Carroll to ground out to third to end the game and pick up the save after allowing no runs and one hit in two innings of relief. Adkins struck out two and walked one.

Cooper allowed four runs - two earned - and scattered seven hits in six innings of work in the circle. Cooper struck out 14 and walked one intentionally but suffered her first loss of the season.

Man scored two runs in the third inning to take a 2-0 lead. The Lady Hillbillies got a pair of one out singles from Kylie Blevins and Cline to put runners at first and second base of a scoreless contest. Cooper flew out just shy of the left field warning track and Barnett singled to center field to load the bases for Carroll.

Carroll narrowly missed hitting a grand slam but came through with a two out two-run single off the top of the left center field fence to score Blevins and Cline giving Man a 2-0 lead.

Logan responded with two runs in the bottom of the third to tie the contest at 2. Noe singled to center and stole second and would come around to score when Curry reached on a dropped third strike. Curry moved to third following a thorwing error and came around to score on Quick's bloop single just inside the right field foul line to even the score at 2-2.

Cline had three hits and scored a run, Carroll one hit and two RBI, Lusk added a solo home run, Blevins one hit and one run and Barnett a single for the Lady Hillbillies.

Noe had two hits and scored two runs, Addison Brumfield had two hits, Adkins one hit and two RBI, Quick one hit and one run scored, and Isabella Propst had one hit for the Lady Wildcats.
