The names of the sex people tragically killed in a helicopter crash last week were released over the weekend.
State Police released the names Saturday afternoon after their identities were confirmed by the medical examiner.
The victims are:
53-year-old John Nagle II of Austin, TX
69-year-old Donald Sandhoff of Durham, NC
51-year-old Kevin Warren of Franklin, TN
73-year-old Carolyn O’Connor of Winter Garden, FL
64-year-old Marvin Bledsoe of Chapmanville, WV
65-year-old Jack Collins of Chapmanville, WV
On Wednesday, a Bell UH-1B helicopter crashed around five o’clock in the evening, according to the Federal Aviation Administration. The crash and resulting fire killed all six people on board for what was reportedly the last flight of the day for MARPAT Aviation. Flights were part of a Huey helicopter reunion.
Route 17, also called Blair Mountain Highway, was closed until Friday when the National Transportation Safety Board removed the wreckage from the highway and transported it to an Atlanta-based warehouse for further examination and forensics.
The road has since opened to traffic once again.
A preliminary report is expected within the next couple of weeks from the safety board.
