Martin County has an interim County Judge-Executive.
Colby Kirk was sworn in Monday to fill the vacancy created by the death of the previous judge-executive, Victor Slone. Kirk served as Deputy Judge under Slone.
“I want to see our community grow and prosper as much as anyone,” Kirk wrote in a Facebook post following the swearing in ceremony. “As County Judge-Executive, I promise to prioritize public safety, develop adventure tourism opportunities, and make investment with our tax dollars that encourage economic growth and new jobs.”
Kirk announced last month he plans to run for the position in the next election.
Kirk was appointed to the position by Governor Andy Beshear.
