NITRO Lena Elkins tossed a three-hit shutout and hit one of three Nitro home runs in a 9-0 five-inning victory over Logan Wednesday evening at Nitro High School.
Elkins struck out 10 to improve her record to 12-3 in the circle. Elkins had two hits including a solo home run and scored three runs while Cece Lackey hit a three-run home run and Chloe Buckner added a two-run home run for Nitro.
Charlie Albright, Emilee Mullins and Taylor Noe each had singles for Logan.
Chloe Bryant suffered the loss in the circle for Logan after allowing nine runs on 11 hits in 3 1/3 innings. Bryant struck out two and walked two. Albright allowed one hit and walked three in 2/3 innings.
Nitro had 12 hits in the contest. Sydni Crawley was 3 for 3 at the plate while Carli Mathes was 2 for 2 with two runs scored and one RBI. Aris Miller finished 2 for 2 and Savannah Cantley 1 for 3 with an RBI for the victorious Lady Wildcats.
Nitro improves to 12-4 while Logan falls to 7-10.
