Firefighters from multiple departments responded to a commercial structure fire Friday morning at Mountaineer Buildings on Central Avenue in Chapmanville. Crews reported heavy smoke and flames coming through the roof and worked to contain the blaze. No injuries were reported, and the cause is believed to be electrical, pending investigation by the Fire Marshal.
CHAPMANVILLE Fire crews responded to a commercial structure fire Friday morning in Chapmanville.
The call came in around 9 o’clock Friday morning, according to a post from the Chapmanville Fire Department. The call was located at the Mountaineer Buildings business in Chapmanville on Central Avenue. Fire fighters reported flames coming through the roof and heavy smoke.
Departments attacked the fire with handlines initially and additional crews and a ladder company assisted with ventilation.
A total of 26 personnel responded. Support from multiple local departments to contain and extinguish the flames included Chapmanville, Cora, Henlawson, Lake, and the City of Logan.
No injuries were reported.
An electrical fire is likely the reason for the blaze, according to crews on scene, The matter has been turned over to the Fire Marshal.
