The City of Logan announced two hires to its emergency departments on Tuesday.

CITY OF LOGAN Following a second reading, city council members unanimously passed an ordinance creating the position of Deputy Chief of Police. The new role was filled Tuesday afternoon after city officials swore in retired West Virginia State Police Trooper Bo Frye. Frye will serve on a one-year probationary period before holding the position permanently.
Also on Tuesday, Dawson Beckett was sworn in as the newest member of the City of Logan Fire Department.

In other news from the city, the police department report for the month of February is in.
Officers responded to one traffic accident and issued 64 traffic citations last month. The City of Logan Police Department made seven arrests for a total of nine felony charges and 12 arrests for 35 misdemeanors. Also, throughout the month of February, crews responded to 123 calls for service.
