NEWTOWN Chris Ross' free throw with 4.8 seconds remaining gave Mingo Central a 50-49 upset of Class AAA No. 3 Logan Tuesday night on Miner Mountain.

Ross hit the front end of a one-and-one opportunity but missed the second shot which was rebounded by Logan's Garrett Williamson.

Williamson raced up court and found Julius Clancy in the left corner for a potential game-winning 3, however, Clancy's attempt was short setting the Miner faithful into celebration.

Kendan Trent led Mingo Central, who erased a nine-point third quarter deficit, with 11 points off the bench.

Matt Hatfield and Jake Cline finished with nine points each while Ross, Malaki Sheppard and Ethan Thomason each had seven points for the victorious Miners.

Scotty Browning led Logan with 20 points. Browning was the only Wildcat to crack double figures. Drew Berry finished with six points, Ivan Miller had five and McCormick Ilderton and Williamson four each.

Mingo Central (4-3) returns to action Friday night at Class AA No. 9 Wyoming East.

Logan (5-4) dropped its third straight game and will be in action Friday night at Class AAA No. 8 Winfield.
