Softball Roundup: Lady Tigers defeat Lady Warriors, Lincoln County one hits Logan

CHAPMANVILLE Erin Adkins went 2-for-3 with two RBIs as Chapmanville rallied from a two-run deficit to defeat Wyoming East 4-2 Friday evening in the CRHS Lady Tigers Invitational at Ronnie “Mule” Ooten Field.


Wyoming East’s Olivia Hylton hit a two-run home run in the second inning to give the Lady Warriors an early 2-0 lead.


The Lady Tigers answered with two runs third as Brooke Christian started the rally with a run-scoring double off the right field fence to score Baylee Belcher with the first run of the contest for the hosts.


Chapmanville tied the game on back-to-back errors by Kayley Bane allowing Christian to score from third base.


Adkins two-run single in the bottom of the fifth broke a 2-2 tie allowing Belcher and Christian to score giving Chapmanville a 4-2 lead.


The first batters reached base for the Lady Warriors as Savannah Brehm singled, and Andrea Laxton reached safely on an error, but Chloe Murphy retired the next three hitters in the Wyoming East order to secure the win for the Lady Tigers.


Murphy picked up the win in the circle for Chapmanville. She two runs on nine hits in seven innings while striking out eight and walking one.


Hylton suffered the loss in the circle for Wyoming East after allowing four runs, three earned, on five hits. She struck out two and walked one and helped her cause at the plate with a two-run home run.


Bane had three singles while Brehm and Laxton each had two hits for the Lady Warriors, who got one hit and a run scored from Candence Clay.


Christian had two hits, one of which a double, scored twice and drove in one run while Belcher added two hits of her own including a double and crossed the plate two times for the Lady Tigers.

Lincoln County 9, Logan 0 (Five Innings) Meghan Stump held Logan to one hit over five innings and the Lady Panthers hit four home runs in a 9-0 victory Thursday evening at Bea Orr Field.

Josie Bird hit two home runs and drove in three runs while Maci Lunsford homered and drove in two runs for Lincoln County, who also got a home run and a double from Ryleigh Shull.

Stump struck out eight and walked one in the circle for Lincoln County and was 2-for-3 at the plate with a double.


The Lady Panthers scored four times in the first, plated two more runs in the third, one in the fourth and scored twice in the fifth inning.


Kellen Ramey had a double and Gracie Clay a single for Lincoln County.


Logan’s Emma Elkins second inning single was the lone hit for Logan.


Harlee Quick suffered the loss for Logan after allowing four runs on three hits in 2/3 innings. Quick walked one and struck out one before being relived by Charlie Albright. Albright allowed five runs on seven hits in 4 1/3 innings of relief. She walked three and struck out eight.
