Southern & LRMC Partner For $1,000 Scholarship For New Year Baby

The Year comes to an end tonight at midnight but the New Year means a New Year baby will inevitably be born at Logan Regional Medical Center.

Logan Regional in partnership with Southern West Virginia Community and Technical College will offer a $1,000 scholarship to first Logan County baby in 2022.

Megan O’Brien, the Director of Women’s Services and Pediatrics for the Women’s Center at Logan Regional Medical Center, says the scholarship partnership is in the second year.

“I think that is just wonderful,” O’Brien said, “We are able to continue to invest in the future of our community.”

O’Brien told WVOW the staff at women’s center are always curious what the future holds for new born babies.

“We’re hoping to plant those roots,” O’Brien explained, “even when they go to college eighteen years later. They remember our investment.”

Local businesses also contribute gifts for the New Year baby.
