State fire marshal called for suspicious fire at Frogtown



FROGTOWN Main Island Creek Volunteer firefighters were out Sunday night with a house fire.

The house fire was located at Frogtown in the Switzer area. Crews were on scene before nine o’clock Sunday night and fighting the fire for two hours or more.


Route 44 was shutdown in order for hoses to connect to the closest available fire hydrant across the highway. No fire hydrants are available across Main Island Creek at Frogtown.

The home was completely destroyed. No injuries reported from the scene, but a man was assessed and he ultimately refused medical transport. The family dog died in the fire.


The West Virginia Fire Marshal’s Office is going to be called into investigate the cause of the fire, according to the Main Island Creek Volunteer Fire Department.
