Stratton Street in the City of Logan will be closed in the evenings after 5:30 p.m. for the next two weeks.
Beginning Monday, Mountaineer Gas Company will begin replacing a gas main line on Stratton Street. Road work will stretch from McCormicks to the Hot Cup coffee shop at the corner of Stratton and Cole Streets.
City of Logan Mayor Serafino Nolletti says the work will be inconvenient but is necessary to be sure the utility isn’t compromised.
“Mountaineer Gas has agreed to do this project in the evening hours,” Nolletti said.
The work at night will be the least intrusive on downtown business and routines.
“We appreciate they’re doing this project at night,” Nolletti said.
Stratton street will close at the intersection with Holland Lane each evening at 5:30 p.m. The street will reopen each following morning.
Work is estimated to last for two weeks.
