Tigers 4th in AA boys preseason poll, Wildcats 6th in AAA

CHAPMANVILLE   Reigning Class AA champion Chapmanville starts the season ranked fourth in the West Virginia Associated Press Boys High School Basketball Preseason Poll.


Charleston Catholic edged out Bluefield and Williamstown for the top spot in Class AA. Chapmanville ranks fourth and Wheeling Central fifth.


Ravenswood is sixth with Trinity seventh, South Harrison eighth, St. Marys ninth and Wyoming East rounding out the top ten.


Logan will begin the season ranked sixth in Class AAA. Two-time reigining Class AA champion Fairmont Senior is the preseason No. 1 followed by Shady Spring, East Fairmont, Winfield and Herbert Hoover.


Logan is sixth, Scott seventh, Elkins eighth, North Marion ninth and Ripley 10th.


Two-time reigning Class AAAA champion Morgantown was No. 1 followed by George Washington, Huntington, Parkersburg South and Jefferson.


Spring Mills is sixth, South Charleston and Wheeling Park are tied for seventh with Hedgesville ninth and Woodrow Wilson 10th.


In Class A, Tucker County is No. 1 with two-time reigning Class A champion James Monroe second, Clay-Battelle third, Tug Valley fourth and Greater Beckley Christian fifth.


East Hardy is sixth, Webster County seventh, Wahama eighth, Cameron ninth and Madonna 10th.
