Tigers fall in golf tri-match at Sleepy Hollow

HURRICANE Isaac Hayes was one of three Hurricane golfers to shot even par or better Tuesday afternoon as the Redskins claimed a tri-match victory over Chapmanville and Winfield at the Sleepy Hollow Golf Club.
Hayes shot a four-under par, three shots ahead of teammates Parker O’Dell and four ahead of Carson O’Dell, as the Redskins swept the top three spots in the individual standings.
Hurricane shot a nine-hole team total of 142 to finish 17 shots in front of second place Chapmanville (159) and 19 shots ahead of Winfield (161).
Hurricane, one of the top teams in Class AAAA, had its top four individuals place in the top seven and shot a 39 or better.
Chapmanville and Winfield, two teams expected to challenge for the Class AAA Region IV crown, were separated by two strokes in the overall standings.
Winfield’s Owen Taylor and Chapmanville’s Gavin Stollings tied for fourth after shooting a 1-over 37. Chapmanville’s Justus Mann (38) was sixth, Bryce Davis (Hurricane) and Gavin Martin (Winfield) both shot a 39 to tie for seventh.
Rounding the top 10 individual golfers were Winfield’s Lucas Hall (40) and Chapmanville teammate Cooper Evans and Isaac Walters and Hurricane’s Luke Sergent with a 42.
Chapmanville’s Cameron Wooten was one shot shy of a top 10 finish after carding a 43 while teammates Zeke Tiller (47) tied for 20th, Drake Dickerson was 22nd after a round of 49 and Colton Thompson’s 56 brought him home in 26th place.
