ELKVIEW   Chapmanville continued its winning ways Tuesday night taking advantage of a Herbert Hoover squad playing without its leading scorer Dane Hatfield.

The Tigers jumped out to a 17-3 lead after one quarter and never looked back on their way to a 65-37 win over Herbert Hoover at Herbert Hoover High School.

Drew Berry made 8 of 9 shots to lead the Class AAA No. 4 Tigers with 19 points. Joey Gollihue scored 16 points and Zion Blevins 15 points for Chapmanville, who shot 25 of 45 from the field.

Cam Blevins had nine points, Benji Adkins four points and Trenton Adkins finished with two for Chapmanville, who has won five straight games to improve to 9-5 on the season.

Riley Johnson led Herbert Hoover with 14 points, Donovan Brown added nine points and Kyle Adkins six points.

Hatfield, the Huskies leading scorer, was injured in a 61-55 loss to Nitro on January 9.

Herbert Hoover (5-5) was forced to call two timeouts in the first quarter and didn’t score until Brown hit a 3 late in the first quarter after the Tigers had scored the game’s first 17 points.

For the game, the Huskies made 15 of their 38 shots from the field and were 3 of 13 from 3-point range.
