Tug Valley Athletic HOF Class 2023 announced



NAUGAUTUCK The Tug Valley Athletic Hall of Fame and Museum’s Board of Directors has announced the election of the members of the Class of 2023 Induction Class and its plans for its 2023 Induction Ceremony.


The Third Tug Valley Athletic Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony will be held on Friday, September 1st at the high school. A “Meet and Greet” Reception will begin at 3:45 p.m. where event attendees may meet the 2023 Inductees. The Induction Ceremony will begin at 4:30 p.m. and go to 6:30 p.m. Both events will be held in the school’s cafeteria/commons area.


Following the Induction Ceremony, the school will host their annual “Hall of Fame Game” during which the 2023 Inductees will be honored at halftime of the game. The opponent for this year’s “Hall of Fame Game” will be Sherman High School and the game and its festivities will get underway at 7:00 p.m.


The Third TVHS Athletic Hall of Fame Induction Class, the Class of 2023, includes the following:


JONATHAN BLANKENSHIP: A 2018 TVHS graduate and a three-sport athlete for Tug Valley, Jonathan played on three West Virginia Class A State Basketball Tournament teams as a member of the Panthers. He played football, basketball and baseball for Tug Valley and was a 2017 First Team West Virginia All-State Team Selection in football. He was the first athlete in Tug Valley history to play in both football and basketball WV North-South All-Star games. He was Third team All-State in basketball in 2017 and 2018. In 2017, he amassed 1897 total yards and scored 25 touchdowns in football for the Panthers.


CLYDE FARLEY: A longtime Tug Valley High School Coach and Athletic Director coached the Panthers Girls Program for 12 years over two different terms as the Panthers Head Girls Basketball Coach. Farley, the winningest Head Girls Basketball Coach in school history with over 130 wins, led the Panthers Girls Basketball Program to the West Virginia State Girls Basketball Tournament on several occasions. He led the Lady Panthers to the West Virginia Class A Girls Basketball State Championship in 2021, the only Girls Basketball State Championship thus far in school history. Farley, the Panther’s Athletics Director for the last 7 years, has seen the school make two WV State Football Playoff Appearances, win several Boys and Girls Basketball Sectional and Regional Championships, and open two state of the art athletic fields and the installation of a new press box for Bob Brewer Stadium under his leadership. He retired earlier this year as Head Girls Basketball Coach and continues as Panther Athletic Director.


TYLER MAY: A TVHS Class of 2018 graduate, Tyler was a two-time First Team WV All-State Team Selection in Boys Basketball (2017, 2018) and a two-time Second Team WV All-State Team Selection in Boys Basketball (2015, 2016). He was a member of the 2018 WV Class A State Tournament All-Tournament Team. Tyler played on three West Virginia Class A State Basketball Tournament teams as a member of the Panthers. He was a four-year varsity basketball player for Tug Valley scoring over 1,600 career points.


KESHIA NEWSOME: A TVHS Class of 2006 graduate, Newsome was a two-sport athlete for the Panthers, being a 4-year starter in Girls Basketball and a 3-year player in Girls Softball. Keshia played on four West Virginia Class A State Girls Basketball Tournament teams as a member of the Panthers. Keshia was an All-State Girls Basketball team honoree three years in a row.


ISAAC PARSLEY: A TVHS Class of 2013 graduate, Parsley was a two-sport athlete for the Panthers. He was a four-year letterman in football and played basketball for the Panthers. Isaac was a 2012 Class A First Team All-State Defensive Team Selection in football. He played on two TVHS WV State Football Playoff Teams and had one of the most successful years defensively in TVHS football history in his senior year garnering 93 tackles, 7 sacks and 4 forced fumbles.


Tickets are now on sale for the event and are $15.00 each. This ticket includes admission to both the “Meet and Greet” Reception and the 2023 Induction Ceremony. Tickets may be purchased by going to the Tug Valley Athletic Hall of Fame and Museum Facebook Page and downloading the ticket order form which is there and mailing it with your check to the address on the form. Tickets for the 2023 Hall of Fame Game must be purchased separately at the gate that evening through the school.
