W.Va. Confirmed 940 New Cases of Virus


The West Virginia Department of Health and Human Resources reported 940 new cases of COVID-19. Today’s daily positive infection rate is 5.25%.


As of 10 o’clock Thursday morning, W.Va. currently has 25,737 active cases of coronavirus.


Since the onset of the outbreak, 1,849 West Virginians have succumbed to COVID-19. Fourteen people died in the last 24 hours.


According to the color-coded map released this morning by the state DHHR, 15 counties remain in the restrictive red zone. Red counties include Boone and Mingo counties.


Twenty-eight counties are orange including Logan, Lincoln, Wayne and Wyoming.


Seven counties are gold.


Four counties are yellow including McDowell.


Tucker County is the only green county today.


W.Va. has administered 137,068 doses of the first round of vaccine. As of press time, 32,122 residents have received both rounds of shots.
