W.Va. Unemployment Rate Better Than National Rate

West Virginia’s seasonally adjusted unemployment rate is currently doing better than the national average.


The states unemployment rate in October was 6.4 percent. This number is a drastic contrast to the 15.8 percent unemployment rate in April due to the coronavirus outbreak.


West Virginia’s number of unemployed residents is 48,000.


Meanwhile, the state’s not seasonally adjusted unemployment rate decreased more than two percentage points to 5.7 percent in October.


The national unemployment rate decreased to 6.9 percent in October.
