West Virginia maintains number of turkeys raised

CHARLESTON The number of turkeys raised in West Virginia in 2022 is

expected to be 3.6 million, the same as in 2021.


In the United States during 2022, the number of turkeys raised is

predicted at 212 million, down two percent from the number

raised during 2021. The top six states will produce 68 percent of

the turkeys produced in the United States in 2022.


Minnesota produces the most turkeys, with 37.5 million, a seven percent

decrease from the previous year. North Carolina produced 28

million turkeys, a seven percent decrease from the previous

year. Arkansas produced almost as many as North Carolina, 27

million turkeys, unchanged from their amount from the year

previous. Missouri produced 17.5 million turkeys, a three

percent increase over the previous year. Virginia is up one percent from last year with 14.6 million.
