West Virginia School Clothing Allowance Applications Open July 20
Eligible West Virginia families can apply beginning July 20 for a $200 school clothing allowance to help cover back-to-school apparel costs.

CHARLESTON Applications for West Virginia's school clothing allowance program will open Monday, July 20th, for eligible students across the state.

The West Virginia Department of Human Services says applications will be accepted through August 15th, or until available funding is exhausted. Families can apply online or request a paper application through their local Department of Human Services office.

Eligible children will receive a $200 benefit that can be used to purchase school clothing or fabric for families who make clothing at home.

State officials say the program is designed to help families prepare for the new school year by easing the cost of back-to-school shopping. With classes beginning in mid-August for many school districts, the assistance is intended to help ensure students have the clothing they need before school starts.
