Wildcats five shots better than Panthers in Monday tri-match

CHAPMANVILLE Alton Ellis shot a 38 Monday afternoon at the Logan Country Club, to help guide the Logan golf team to a five-shot win in a tri-match with Tug Valley and the Chapmanville junior varsity.


Ellis was Monday’s individual medalist, finishing two shots better than Tug Valley’s Jace Hale, who carded a 40.


Five Logan golfers finished in the top 10 as the Wildcats won the match with a 175, five shots better than Tug Valley’s 180, and 11 shots better than Chapmanville’s junior varsity score of 186.


Logan placed four of its five golfers in the top eight while Tug Valley placed two. Overall, including ties, all three schools had at least two golfers in the top five individual standings.


Colton Thompson fired a 42 for Chapmanville to finish third and teammate Drake Dickerson carded a 43 finishing in a three-way tie for fourth with Logan’s Landon Hall and Tug Valley’s Noah Canterbury.


Logan’s Adex Martin finished seventh after scoring a 44, teammate Kevin Farmer was fifth with a 45 followed by Tug Valley’s Darian Vance with a 46 and Logan’s Crew Blankenship registered a 48 to round out the top 10.


Other local golfers competing included Chapmanville’s Nate Farley, who finished 11th after carding a 49, Logan’s Chase Butcher and Chapmanville’s Chance Workman tied for 15th with a score of 53, Logan’s Evan Porter was 17th with a nine-hole score of 54 and Chapmanville’s Jacob Farley came home 20th with a total of 55.
