Wildcats limited to one hit in 12-0 loss at Ripley

RIPLEY   Cade Goode struck out 11 in five innings and allowed just one hit as Ripley defeated Logan 12-0 Thursday evening at Viking Park.


Goode retired the first nine batters he faced, striking out six, before allowing a leadoff double of the bat of Jayce Wolfe in the fourth inning.


Goode followed with a walk to Rob Ball but retired the three batters and struck out the side in the fifth inning.


Ripley improved to 5-1 with the win and Logan fell to 2-2 with the loss.


Brady McVay went 2-for-2 with two RBIs and Parker Keller was 1-for-2 with two runs driven in to lead the Ripley 10-hit attack. Gatlin Donohew collected two hits and scored two runs while Jackson Curry had one hit, scored three times and drove in a run. Eli Phalen had one hit, drove in a run and scored twice and Goode had a run-scoring hit.


Ripley scored all of its runs in the first three innings Thursday night. The Vikings plated three runs in the first, pushed across four in the second and scored five in the third.


Goode allowed two base runners and threw 72 pitches, 48 of which were strikes, as Ripley won its fifth straight game following a season opening 12-5 defeat at Winfield on March 15.


Wolfe had Logan's lone hit, Ball drew a walk and Devin Stewart was the losing pitcher after allowing seven runs- five earned - on six hits and one walk in two innings.
