Wildcats run away from Indians

SISSONVILLE Jack Ball and Lucas Lambert each ran for two touchdowns as Logan defeated Sissonville 41-17 Friday night at Joe Sawyers Field.

 

Lambert ran for 96 yards on six carries and scored on runs of 7 and 45 yards while Ball rushed for 70 yards on eight attempts and had touchdown runs of 1 and 15 yards.

 

Logan rushed for 379 yards and six touchdowns on 48 carries while holding the Indians to 18 rushing yards on 22 carries.

 

Four different Wildcats rushed for 60 yards or more. Zayden Sherrod carried the ball five times for 65 yards and Caden Justice had 62 yards on eight attempts. Gavin Abraham scored on a 7-yard run and Terrindez Bryant added an 18-yard touchdown.

 

Ball opened the scoring with a 1-yard run in the first quarter and Lambert added a 7-yard run as Logan led 13-0 after one quarter.

 

Sissonville, who never led in the contest, got on the board in the second quarter when they tackled quarterback Adam Baisden in the end zone for a safety cutting the deficit to 13-2 at halftime.

 

Logan led 27-2 after three quarters thanks in part to Abraham and Bryant’s touchdown runs and extended its lead to 35-2 when Ball scored in the fourth quarter.

 

Maddox Balog hooked up with Noah Evans for a 30-yard touchdown and then connected with John Wheeler for a successful two-point conversion to cut the Indians deficit to 35-10 in the fourth quarter.

 

Lambert’s 45-yard touchdown put Logan ahead 41-10 and Balog threw his second touchdown in the final minute of the fourth, this one a 10-yard scoring strike to Nathan Young to set the final score at 41-17 following Charles Swain’s extra point.

 

Balog completed 10 of 27 attempts for 209 yards and two touchdowns with two interceptions to lead Sissonville. Noah Evans rushed for 17 yards on two carries while Deacon Moore hauled in four receptions for 81 yards and Brody Scott caught two passes for 59 yards.

 

Adam Baisden was 6 of 8 passing for 81 yards and one interception. Sherrod caught two passes for 41 yards, Justice had two receptions for 23 yards and Gage Green two catches for 17 yards.

 

Sissonville (0-2) travels to Scott Friday night while Logan (1-1) hosts Tug Valley.
