MADISON A woman is facing a child neglect charge in Boone County after police said her three-year-old child was found wandering naked through the streets of Madison.

According to a criminal complaint filed in Boone County Magistrate Court, police were notified on August 21 that a three-year-old child was lying naked in the grass in the 200 block of Washington Avenue.

Officers said the child was still naked when they found her and was chasing a dog down a street.

Police said 20-year-old Elizabeth Nicole Jones of West Jefferson, Ohio, then came running down the street and identified herself as the child’s mother. She reportedly told investigators the child got out of the house while she was in the bathroom.

Jones was arrested and charged with child neglect creating risk of injury. She entered a plea of Not Guilty on August 24 and has a preliminary hearing scheduled for Tuesday, September 8, before Judge Danny Moore.

She is currently being held at Southwestern Regional Jail on a $25,000 cash-only bond.
