WV DHHR: 20 New Deaths, Number of Red Counties Continues to Drop


The West Virginia Department of Health and Human Resources reported 22 additional deaths since Friday morning.


To date, 2028 West Virginians have succumbed to the virus.


Four deaths were reported in the last 24-hours.


Moreover, the state DHHR confirmed 424 new cases of the virus.


As of 10 o’clock Friday morning, West Virginia has 20,615 active cases of coronavirus.


Today’s daily positive infection rate is 8.03%.


Today’s county alert map reports 12 counties in the red category. Red zone counties include Logan and Boone. High schools in red counties will transition or continue remote learning.


Orange counties include Mingo, Wayne, Wyoming and 29 other counties.


Five counties are gold including McDowell.


Five counties are yellow including Lincoln.


Summers County is the only green county today.


W.Va. has administered 194,488 doses of the first round of vaccine. As of 10 o’clock this morning, 68,392 residents have received both rounds of shots.
