The West Virginia Department of Health and Human Resources reported 1,053 additional infections of COVID-19 Wednesday.
Fifteen additional deaths were reported this morning. Since the onset of the outbreak, a total of 5,036Mountain State residents have succumbed to COVID-19
West Virginia has 8,482 active cases of COVID-19.
The latest county alert map published by the DHHR has 24counties in the red zone.
The map measures the severity of community spread within each county. Red indicates the most severe spread of coronavirus in the state. Red counties include Boone, Mingo and Wayne.
A total of 19counties are in the second-most sever color ranking of orange including Logan, Lincoln, and Wyoming
Sixcounties are gold.
Four counties are yellow and two counties are green
