WV DHHR Reports Over 1,300 New COVID Cases, 22 Counties Red



The West Virginia Department of Health and Human Resources reported 1,363 additional infections of COVID-19 Friday.


The new infections boosted the state’s active cases up to 7,275.


Ten additional deaths were reported. Since the onset of the outbreak, a total of 4,726 Mountain State residents have succumbed to COVID-19.

Hospitalizations are down slightly with a total 522patients hospitalized for the virus statewide. There are 169patients in intensive care units and 98 of those patients require ventilators.

The latest county alert map published by the DHHR has 22 counties in the red zone including Boone, Lincoln and Mingo counties.

The map measures the severity of community spread within each county. Red indicates the most severe spread of coronavirus in the state. The state has been racking up more and more red counties as of late.

Orange is the second most severe spread and nineteen counties are orange as of Friday morning including Logan, Wayne and Raleigh.

Fivecounties are gold including McDowell


Six counties are yellow including Wyoming and five counties are green.
