134th COVID Death Reported In Logan County


Another COVID related death reported Friday by the Logan County Health Department


Health Department Director Steve Browning confirmed the death of a 61-year-old male attributed to COVID-19. The death marks 134 fatalities since the start of the outbreak.

The health department also reported thirteen additional cases of the virus. A total of 89 new infections has been confirmed through laboratory testing since Friday a week ago.


As of Friday afternoon, Logan has 118 active cases of coronavirus.


Seventeen people remain hospitalized.


Statewide, the West Virginia Department of Health and Human Resources reported seven deaths attributed to coronavirus. Since the onset of the outbreak, a total of 4,518 Mountain State residents have succumbed to COVID-19.


The DHHR reported 871 additional infections of COVID-19 Friday. The new cases send the state’s active cases up to 6,832.

A total 543 patients are hospitalized for the virus statewide. There are 192 patients in intensive care units and 103 of those patients require ventilators.


The percentage of fully vaccinated West Virginians fell with the addition of children five to eleven years of age to the list of eligible recipients of the vaccine. Vaccine administration stands at 54.4% of the eligible population.
