Active Cases of the Virus Continue to Dwindle in W.Va.

The West Virginia Department of Health and Human Resources reported 535 additional cases of COVID-19 Wednesday.


As of 10 o’clock this morning, West Virginia has 19,212 active cases of coronavirus.


Twenty-seven deaths were reported over the last 24-hours. Since the onset of the outbreak, 2,058 West Virginians have succumbed to coronavirus.


Today’s daily positive infection rate is 5.91%.


Today’s county alert map reports nine counties in the red category. Red zone counties include Boone.

Orange counties include Logan, McDowell, Mingo, Wayne, Wyoming and 25 other counties.


Eight counties are gold, and six counties are yellow.


Lincoln and Summers counties are the only green counties.


W.Va. has administered 196,726 doses of the first round of vaccine. As of 10 o’clock this morning, 73,524 residents have received both rounds of shots.
