HAMLIN   Chloe Murphy was rolling in the cirlce for Chapmanville, but it was a big hit from Evy Altizer that put the Lady Tigers in the drivers' seat of the Class AAA Region IV Section 2 tournament

It occurred with two outs in the top of the third inning when Altizer doubled to score Hannah Miller and Brooke Christian with the only runs. That would be all the offense the Lady Tigers would need as Murphy took care of the rest and second-seeded and seventh ranked Chapmanville shutout fourth ranked and top seed Lincoln County, 2-0, Wednesday evening at Lincoln County High School.

The victory moves the Lady Tigers one win from a berth in the Class AAA Region IV regional tournament. Chapmanville will have two chances to win one game Friday evening against either Lincoln County or third-seeded Wayne.

Should Chapmanville falter Friday, a winner-take-all game will follow on Saturday.

Altizer had two doubles to account for a third of the Lady Tigers (15-6) six hits, while Murphy held the Lady Panthers (16-9) to three singles.

Murphy stuck out 11 and walked two and worked out of a seventh inning jam to propel the Lady Tigers into Friday's championship game.

Arien Cooper, Abbie Jeffers and Jillian Starcher each had one hit for Lincoln County.

Cooper suffered the loss after allowing two runs on six hits with 12 strikeouts and three walks.

Megan Brown, Christian, Peyton Lusk and Laken Parks each had one hit for Chapmanville.

Lincoln County will host Wayne in Thursday's elimination contest at 6 p.m. The Lady Pioneers lost Chapmanville 7-0 in Tuesday's sectional opener.
