American Legion Post 111 Honors Chuck Yeager

A Lincoln County American Legion post was renamed in honor of the first man to break the sound barrier.


A ceremony Wednesday at the American Legion Post 111 in Hamlin renamed the post in honor of Lincoln County native Chuck Yeager. The American Legion post will now be known as the Gen. Charles E. “Chuck” Yeager Post 111.


General Yeager became world famous for breaking the sound barrier on October 14, 1947.


Yeager died December eleventh last year. He was 97 years old and was a member of the post that now bears his name for 42 years.
