Boone CO's Accused of Aiding Escape

Two former correctional officers at Donald R. Kuhn Juvenile Detention Center in Boone County are accused of helping a teenage prisoner escape in June. On Friday, 25-year-old Alexandria Shelby of Harts and 32-year-old Larissa Mackall of Julian were charged with conspiracy. According to a criminal complaint, Shelby and Mackall allegedly helped 18-year-old Dominic McClung escape. According to the complaint, McClung purposely injured himself so he could be medically transported. The women talked about the escape, and Shelby would pick him up at a gas station and take him home for the night. It was discovered Mackall had an inappropriate relationship with McClung, and admitted to kissing him on his 18th birthday while he was incarcerated, according to the complaint. McClung was captured after he fled from a GoMart in Danville. He outran two correctional officers and went across the Coal River. He was found about three hours later crossing Long Branch Road. He was moved from the detention center to Southwestern Regional Jail. [NOTE: This story was originally published on the old WVOWRadio.com on August 18, 2020.]
