Delayed Map Release Has 2 Counties in the "Red"


Numbers released Friday afternoon show West Virginia with the highest rate of spread of the virus, in the nation at 1.28. The state had one of the lowest readings less than two weeks ago.


A delayed release of the county alert map today has two counties in the red. It came out at 12:30 p.m. and has Monroe and now Monongalia County in red. Logan, Mingo and Wayne counties remain orange.


The state Department of Health and Human Resources says it has added 192 new confirmed COVID-19 cases to the state’s total in the past 24 hours.


The new numbers out today show a daily positive test rate of just below 5 percent at 4.96%.

The statewide death toll sets at 243 West Virginian.


The state DHHR will update the color-coded map Saturday night at nine o’clock. The map Saturday will determine what schools will be permitted to conducted in-person classes on Tuesday, Sept. 8
