NEW RICHMOND A 17-2 run to start the first quarter was too much for Logan to overcome Thursday night as the Lady Wildcats suffered their first loss of the season 68-42 to the Class AA No.1 Lady Warriors at Wyoming East High School.
Logan cut the deficit to eight points in the second quarter, but couldn't get over the hump as Wyoming East gradually pulled away in the second half to end Logan's four-game winning streak to start the season.
Abi Baker scored 19 of her game-high 21 points in the second half to lead four Wyoming East players in double figures. Cadence Blackburn had 17 points, Rylee Brown 11 and Kyndal Lusk finished with 10.
The Lady Warriors scored the game's first eight points before Addyson Amick's got Logan on board with 5:03 to play in the opening quarter. Wyoming East followed its 8-0 run with a 9-0 run over the next 2:10 and led 17-2 when Lusk drained a 3 with 2:03 remaining.
The Lady Wildcats trimmed a 15-point deficit to eight, 31-23, when Halle Crouse scored with 0:47 remaining in the first half, but the Lady Warriors got a basket from Brown to go up 33-23 with 0:32 remaining.
Trailing by 10 to start the third quarter, Logan had a number of opportunities to trim the deficit to single digits, but were unable to get the deficit under 10 as the Lady Warriors took a 16-point lead to the fourth quarter.
Amick led Logan with 16 points. Crouse added nine and Bam Mosby eight.
