SWITZER  Firefighters save a dog from a house fire at Switzer.

Fire companies from the City of the Logan Fire Department and the Main Island Creek Volunteer Fire Department responded to a two-story residential structure fire just after nine o’clock Sunday night on Steele Street.

According to a social media post from the City of Logan Fire Department, crews quickly made an interior and exterior attack on the blaze. Originally, two separate structures fires were reported. Crews confirm only one house was involved. Main Island Creek Fire Department reports of a second fire on Switzer Hill were false.

Firefighters reported a dog crying when making entry to the structure. Responders quickly found the dog and brought it outside where it was administered oxygen by members of the Logan Emergency Ambulance Service Authority. Dog was returned to the owner. No other injuries reported.

Cause of the fire is still under investigation. According to a post from the Main Island Creek Department, the fire has been referred to the Logan County Sheriff’s Department and West Virginia State Fire Marshall.
