A former federal prosecutor has filed to run in the redistricted Seventh Senate District.
Mike Stuart filed campaign papers Wednesday to run for the West Virginia Senate.
The Seventh Senate District was recently redistricted and now consists of Boone, Lincoln, Logan and a southern portion of Kanawha County.
Stuart is a Republican and so far has one challenger with Chad McCormick in the Primary.
The seat is currently occupied by Democratic incumbent Ron Stollings.
