WARNER ROBINS, GEORGIA Cordtney Galoia nearly threw a no-hitter Wednesday afternoon leading the Warner Robins (GA) Little League to a 6-0 victory over Logan Little League in the Little League Softball Southeast Regional at Little League Southeast Park.
Galoia was dominant in the circle allowing just one hit, a Zoe Chaney single with two outs in the bottom of the sixth. Galoia struck out eight and had a double and two RBIs as Warner Robins eliminated Logan from the Little League Softball Southeast Regional.
Galoia retired the first six batters in Logan’s lineup before Chaney reached on an error to lead off the bottom of the third. Galoia retired the next 11 batters before Chaney’s two-out single in the bottom of the sixth spoiled her bid for a no-hitter in front of the home crowd.
Allie Hutto drove in two runs and Ella Huddleston and Rylynn Ward each drove in one run for Warner Robbins. Camilla English added a double and scored two runs, Chloe Crawford had a triple and Jordyn Lambert had one hit.
Logan starting pitcher Emma Lackey struggled to find the strike zone, walking two batters and hitting one. Lackey was pulled from the circle after facing just three batters, was charged with three earned runs and was the losing pitcher.
Chaney relieved Lackey and allowed three runs on seven hits and struck out four in six innings.
Warner Robins plated four runs in the top of the first to jump out on top of Logan 4-0 after one complete. Galoia started the scoring with a run-scoring fielder’s choice and Hutto followed with a rare two RBI groundout before Ward closed the scoring with Warner Robins first hit of the inning.
Huddleston drove in a run in the fifth with a single and Galoia drove home a run with her double in the sixth.
Logan failed to hit a ball out of the infield against Galoia, who also had three assists in the field sharing team-high honors with Huddleston.
