Governor Justice announces vaccinations open to individuals 16 and older


Governor Jim Justice announced COVID-19 vaccinations are now open to all West Virginians ages 16 and older.


Justice said the new vaccine ages will begin immediately and individuals 65-years-of-age and older will continue to be the priority.


“I encourage all West Virginians to take advantage of this opportunity and get vaccinated,” Justice said.

Justice said 70% of the 65 and older group have been fully vaccinated.


A total of 276 new cases of the virus has been discovered in the last 24 hours.

Today’s daily infection rate is 5.21 %.


Six people have died in the last 24 hours. Since the onset of the outbreak, 2,612 West Virginians have succumbed to the COVID-19.


Currently, W.Va. has 5,600 active cases of the virus.


According to the county alert map released by the Department of Health and Human Resources, one county is in the red category.



Jefferson County is red today. Nine counties are yellow including Mingo and Wayne. Eight Counties are orange including Logan.
