Southern West Virginia Community and Technical College conducted its fifth annual Carrie Anne Scott Memorial Scholarship Event on Saturday.
The event was a fundraiser for the Southern Foundation. Proceeds go toward the Carrie Anne Scott Memorial Scholarship. This year’s event included a kayak float and a rubber duck race on the Little Coal River
This was the first year for the Rubber Duck Race. The winner was Doug Scott of Hurricane, who walked away with a new kayak autographed by former NFL player and Marshall standout Chad Pennington and former Marshall Coach Bob Pruitt.
Southern would like to thank all the sponsors including the Jaycees and the Boy Scouts who assisted in duck retrieval and assisted participants in getting in and out of the water.
