Lady Hillbillies start fast, rout Lady Generals for first win of the season

MAN   Zoey Martin scored a game-high 21 points and Man opened the game on a 16-0 run on its way to a 64-28 win over Montcalm Monday night at the Man Memorial Fieldhouse.

Gracie Wheatley added 10 points and Emilee Deel and Megan McCoy added eight points each as the Hillbillies won their first game of the season.

Adasyn Havens had 14 points to pace the Lady Generals (0-3), who committed 37 turnovers and was held scoreless until Havens knocked down a foul line jumper with 2:43 remaining in the first half.

Man, who led 35-14 at halftime, opened the second half by scoring the first 19 points of the third quarter and outscored Montcalm 20-3 in the third quarter.

Braylee Thompson had five points and Kaylee Julious, Breanna Maynard and Lorelai Staten each had four points for the Lady Hillbillies.

Isabella Poore finished with seven points, Peyton White added five points, and Madison Hart had two points for the Lady Generals.

Montcalm hosts River View on December 29 while Man (1-1) returns to action on Saturday at Tug Valley.
