CHAPMANVILLE Jayce Blair scored 13 points in her return to Chapmanville and Class AAA No. 7 Logan held Class AA No. 10 Chapmanville to 12.5% shooting in the second half in Saturday night's 48-31 win at the Danny Godby Gymnasium.
Addyson Amick and Halle Crouse added 10 points each and Peyton Butcher added eight points, 13 rebounds and three blocks for the Lady Wildcats, who trailed by three points at halftime then held the Lady Tigers scoreless for a stretch of 11:15.
Logan (8-5) outscored Chapmanville 11-0 in the third quarter and 25-5 in the second half to sweep the season series with the Lady Tigers.
Brooke Christian and Daizi Farley each had 12 points for Chapmanville (6-7), who made just 2 of 16 shots in the second half.
Chapmanville, coming off an upset victory at Class AA No. 4 Williamstown on January 18, started hot off the opening tip before cooling in the second half.
The Lady Tigers were 6-for-8 from the field and was 6-for-6 from 3-point range and led Logan 18-12 after one quarter of play.
Chapmanville led 26-21 when Laken Parks scored on a layup with 1:43 to play before halftime, but it would the last points the Lady Tigers would score for 11:15.
Butcher scored with 0:48 remaining to cut the deficit to 26-23. Butcher's basket would be the start of a 19-0 run Lady Wildcat run.
Logan made 11-of-19 shots in the second half, scored the 1 7 points after halftime, starting with five points from Blair and including four points each from Amick and Crouse.
Chapmanville missed 12 consecutive shots from the third quarter through the first 1:32 of the fourth quarter. The Lady Tigers didn't score in the second half until Christian's 3-pointer with 6:28 to play in the fourth quarter, though by that point Logan led by nine, 38-29.
The Lady Tigers missed their next four shots before Haley Fleming's layup with 0:36 to play.
Logan shot 21-of-41 from the field and outrebounded Chapmanville 26-13 and had more offensive rebounds (14) than the Lady Tigers total rebounds.
Despite going ice cold in the second half, the Lady Tigers made 11-of-32 shots from the field and made 8-of-14 3-pointers. In the first half, Chapmanville made 9-of-16 shots from the field including 7-of-9 3-pointers.
Logan will honor its five seniors Monday night when they host Lincoln County. Chapmanville hosts Boone County rival Scott on Thursday night.
