A Mingo County man was arrested Monday in connection with shooting his wife.
According to a criminal complaint, Jason Gillman of Lenore allegedly shot his wife at their residence. A 4-year-old child was home when the incident occurred.
The victim was injured but was alive and responsive and able to place a call to 911.
The victim told deputies her husband accused her of cheating on him and began arguing with her. The altercation then turned physical and according to the victim, Gillman grabbed his gun and shot the woman in the living room while their child was asleep in the bedroom, which is next to the living room.
When investigators arrived on scene, Gillman was reportedly standing outside in front of the garage. He allegedly told police he did not mean to shoot her. Gillman was arrested without incident.
Gillman is charged with malicious wounding, assault during the commission of a felony, domestic battery, wanton endangerment and child neglect with a risk of injury.
The victim is currently in ICU but is expected to recover.
