Logan Lady Wildcats head to the state tourney after win over Winfield Tuesday night

In high school girls basketball action, the Logan Lady Wildcats clinched their spot in the 2021 girls AAA state tournament, as they dominated the Winfield Lady General 61-39 last night in the regional finals from Willie Akers Arena.

The Lady Wildcats led wire to wire as they raced out to a 21-10 lead after the first quarter, and used their pressure defense to extend their lead to 36-18 at intermission.

Winfield struggled from the free-throw line all evening, as they finished 18-32 from the charity stripe while Logan went 8-9, and ran out to a 55-30 lead after three quarters.

The Lady Wildcats would then put things on cruise control in the 4th quarter, as they ran out the clock to make their second state tournament in four years.

Junior Peyton Ilderton led all scorers with 24 points on the evening, while senior Jill Tothe knocked down four three-pointers and closed the game with 14 points for Logan.

The Lady Wildcats will take the floor at the Charleston Civic Center next Wednesday when they face Pikeview in the #4 vs. #5 match-up.
