WINFIELD Hoping to avoid a four-game losing streak for the first time since the 2015-16 season, Logan coach Zach Green shook up the starting lineup for his Class AAA third-ranked Wildcats.

Green benched Julius Clancy, Jarron Gore and Ivan Miller in favor of Cole Blankenship, McCormick Ilderton and Drew Berry in hopes of energizing his struggling team.

Winfield's Cody Griffith had other ideas as he connected on 10 field goals including six 3-pointers and was a perfect 6 of 6 from the free throw line finishing with a game-high 32 points in the Generals 75-66 win over the Wildcats.

Tanner Laughery had 16 points, Ross Musick had 14 points and the eighth-ranked Generals made 11 3-pointers in handing Logan its fourth straight loss of the season.

Logan's last four-game losing streak was between Jan. 12 and Jan. 26, 2016.

Logan trailed 19-17 after one quarter before taking its first lead, 20-19, on Glick's free throw with just over 6:00 to play in the second quarter.

Glick's free throw capped off a 7-0 Logan run spanning the end of the first quarter and the start of the second quarter.

After Winfield regained the lead on Toby Laughery's basket, Scotty Browning hit a jumper to put Logan on top 22-21 with 5:49 to play before halftime.

It would be the last lead of the night for the Wildcats as Winfield closed the half on a 12-4 run and led 33-26 at halftime.

The Generals stretched their lead to 17 points, 51-34, on Griffith's 3 with 2:25 to play in the third quarter.

Down 51-34, the Wildcats closed the gap to 51-43 with nine straight points in a 0:32 span. Browning started the run with a 3-pointer and then scored on a three-point play in a span of 0:15. Garrett Williamson capped the run with a 3 of his own to bring Logan within eight points with 1:15 to play in the third quarter.

Logan closed to 66-61 on Williamson's 3 with 1:46 to play in the fourth quarter, but the Wildcats would get no closer as the Generals knocked down 10 of 13 free throws in the final quarter.

Browning scored 29 points, including 16 in the fourth quarter, Williamson had 13 and Ilderton 11 for Logan.

Winfield (6-3) travels to Class AAA No. 1 Shady Spring Tuesday night.

Logan (5-5), off to its worst starting the back-to-back 4-6 starts to the 2012-13 and 2013-14 season, will travel to Class A No. 7 Tug Valley Saturday night.
