Logan man arrested for alleged drunken assault of his mother

LOGAN A Logan man is in jail for alleged drunken threats and assault against his mother, according to a criminal complaint.

According to a criminal complaint filed in Logan Magistrate Court, 51-year-old James Griffin, of Logan, has three charges stemming from an incident with his mother.

Logan County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to the Cora area on Monday night. According to 911 Dispatch, the call was in reference to a domestic violence incident. Griffin’s mother reported she left her home and went to a neighbor’s home due to her son being violent.

Deputy R. Allen wrote in the complaint that Griffin’s mother said her son spat on her and wished she was dead early that morning. She alleged the altercation was a continuation from the night before when she said he struck her in the back of the head and poured orange soda on her.

According to the complaint, Griffin has a history of alcohol and drug usage and is aggressive to his mother frequently and 911 has an extensive call history at the same address for similar incidents. The neighbor said Griffin allegedly begged him not to call the police.

Deputy Allen said he made contact with Griffin walking through Cora Bottom. Allen said the defendant reeked of alcohol and was placed under arrest.

Griffin is charged with Domestic Assault, Domestic Battery and Public Intoxication. Bond was set in at $1,000 cash only.
