Logan mercy rules Florida to start Senior League Southeast Regional

CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. Lena Setser and Ayla Vance homered to back Mia
Johnson in the circle and the Logan Senior Little League All Stars opened the
Senior League Softball Southeast Regional with an 11-1 win over Dr. Phillips
Senior Little League Friday afternoon at Civitan Park.
Johnson struck out nine and allowed one run on five hits in five innings in the
circle for Logan who advances to play South Carolina state champion, Irmo
Senior Little League at 12:00 p.m. Saturday afternoon.
Irmo defeated the host St. Bethlehem Senior Little League, 9-7, in eight
innings in the tournament opener Friday afternoon.
Setser was 2 for 2 with three RBI and Vance went 1 for 1 with two RBI.
Setser’s two-run home run to center field in the third gave Logan a 4-0. Vance
followed with her third home run of the postseason to center to put Logan
ahead 5-0.
Dr. Phillips starting pitcher Madison Collazo gave up 11 runs and seven hits,
walked three and hit two in four innings. Collazo was 1-for-3 with a fifth inning
triple that drove in Florida’s only run.
Peyton Sigmon drove in the game ending run in the fifth with an RBI fielder’s
choice. Sigmon finished with two RBI.
Miley Fleming and Zoe Chaney scored on errors in the first to put Logan up 2-
0.
Setser singled in the fourth to drive in her third run giving Logan a 6-0 lead
and Vance flew out to center scoring Chaney for a 7-0 lead.
Samantha Rome was 2 for 2 with a double and two runs. Keira Bullion and
Cecilia Roy each went 1 for 2 for Dr. Phillips.
Miley Fleming went 1 for 4 with three runs, Myah Kirkendall was 1 for 1,
Alliyah Smith and Kinley Steele went 1 for 3 and Chaney crossed the plate
four times for Logan.
Dr. Phillips Senior Little League will face St. Bethlehem Senior Little League at
6:00 p.m. in one of two elimination games Saturday evening. York County
Senior Little League of Virginia and Northwest Forsyth American Senior Little
League of North Carolina meet in the second elimination game at 8:30 p.m.
Hart County Senior Little League of Georgia and Montgomery Central Senior
Little League of Tennessee meet in the second winner’s bracket contest at
2:30 p.m.
