Logan Records 130th COVID Death

The Logan County Health Department reported an additional death attributed to COVID-19.


On Friday, Health Department Director Steve Browning confirmed the death of a 40-year-old. The fatality brings Logan’s death toll to 130 since the onset of the outbreak.


A total 90 additional infections of the virus has been confirmed through laboratory testing over the last week.


Logan has 145 active cases, 5,223 recoveries and 130 fatalities for a cumulative total of 5,482 cases of COVID-19


Eighteen people are hospitalized.


As of Friday morning, Logan was orange on the West Virginia Department of Health and Human Resources County Alert Map. The map measures the severity of infection in each county.

A color is rendered for a county by choosing the lower percentage between the county’s infection rate and the percentage of positivity.


On Friday, Logan was reported with a 39.71% infection rate. The infection rate in Logan would earn the county a red zone qualification for the severity of the spread.


The percentage of positivity in Logan was reported at 5.12% and within the orange category for the second most severe community spread of COVID-19.
