Logan's Canterbury Pitched Perfect Game Monday Night Against Mingo Central

The Logan Wildcats baseball team moved their season record to 10-4 with a win over the Mingo Central Miners Monday night with a final score of 16-0.

The game was the debut pitching start for Joey Canterbury. The fifteen-year-old freshman dominated the mound with thirteen strikeouts in five innings. According to Coach Kevin Gertz, the performance by Canterbury was the first perfect game in the school’s history.

“I’ve coached here for 35 years,” Gertz said, “I don’t recall a perfect game. We’ve had many no hitters throughout our program.”

Gertz said Monday was something special, and says Canterbury is a coach’s dream to coach.

“The first guy in and last guy out type of guy.” Gertz said.

Logan baseball continues this evening with Herbert Hoover visiting. First pitch is scheduled for 7 o’clock.
