The Madison Volunteer Fire Department received a $7,500 grant from the Boone County Community Foundation.
The money is intended to assist in purchasing new helmets.
They say the grant will cover 84% of the cost of the helmets for all 28 firefighters on the team, according to a social media post from the department.
The helmets will comply with standards set by the National Fire Protection Agency.
The department announced grant Wednesday on Facebook
