Plumley, Farley combine to toss three-hitter in Chapmanville 7-1 victory over Tug Valley

CHAPMANVILLE Evan Plumley and Andrew Farley combined on a three-hitter as Chapmanville defeated Tug Valley 7-1 Tuesday evening at Ted Ellis Field.


Plumley started on the hill for the Tigers and allowed two hits while striking out three and walking one in four innings to earn the win. Farley allowed one run on hit with six strikeouts, three walks and one hit batter in three innings to earn the save.


Farley was also 1-for-3 at the plate and drove in two runs while Brody Dalton and Tyson Thompson each had two hits and drove in two runs for Chapmanville.


Dalton was 2-for-4 with a two-run home run and scored two runs while Thompson was 2-for-3 with a double. Trey Butcher was 1-for-4 with one RBI while Scout Adams and Jacob Topping each had one hit for Chapmanville.


Chapmanville plated a run in the first inning on Tyson Thompson’s single scoring Talan Thompson for a 1-0 lead.


The Tigers added to their lead with a run in the second as Butcher singled to right to score Eli Surgoine making it 2-0.


A pair of runs came across the plate in the third inning as Farley’s single plated Adam Mullins and Will Kirkendall to increase Chapmanville’s advantage to 4-0.


Tug Valley got on the board in the fifth when Ashton Smith stole second and scored on an error to cut the deficit to 4-1.


Chapmanville answered with a run in the bottom of the fifth on Tyson Thompson’s double scoring Dalton giving the Tigers a 5-1 lead.


In the seventh, Adams singled and scored on Dalton’s two-run home run for a 7-1 Chapmanville lead.


Smith suffered the loss for Mingo Central after allowing seven runs on seven hits in with four strikeouts, five walks and one hit batter in six innings.


Tanner Kirk had two hits for Mingo Central and Nick Alley had one hit.
