Southern West Virginia Community and Technical College’s Medical Laboratory Technology program has received its official National Accrediting Agency for Clinical Laboratory Sciences Board of Directors' accreditation award.
The NAACLS award was presented at its April 22, 2021 meeting. The Board of Directors based the award length on the continuing accreditation review process that included submission of an extensive Program Self Study report in the spring of 2020 and a virtual site visit during the fall of 2020.
“I am very pleased to learn that Southern’s Medical Laboratory Technology program has been awarded the maximum ten years of reaccreditation from the National Accrediting Agency for Clinical Laboratory Sciences,” Shirley Dardi, Professor and Coordinator of Southern’s Medical Laboratory Technology program.
NAACLS is the premier agency for accreditation and approval of educational programs in the clinical laboratory sciences disciplines.
Dardi went on to say, “This allows our MLT graduates to obtain national certification from the American Society for Clinical Pathology Board of Certification. ASCP(BOC) is the gold standard for global certification for medical laboratory professionals and is recognized and sought after nationwide.”
“I couldn’t be prouder of all of Southern’s MLT Graduates over the years. These laboratory professionals perform vital ‘behind the scenes’ diagnostic testing which provides lifesaving information to health care providers in hospitals and facilities in our service area and beyond.”
This accreditation will continue until April 30th, 2031.
